Books!  Have I mentioned how great books look?  If you have boxes of them taking up space and a room that lacks character…then bring the two together!

A great bookcase can make a room… see the amazing space above.  That would have to be one of the coolest dining rooms I’ve seen.  Love the ladder!

Having a big bookcase doesn’t mean the look has to be heavy and dark.  If your shelving is painted the same colour as the walls they will effectively disappear and  the visual impact is made by the books…not the shelves. Then just ensure that your display (books or whatever) have some space around them to keep the look clean and uncluttered.  
But if you do want that den look… then go dark wood and cram the books in!!  Multiple books in a room immediately loosens your look and makes it easier to introduce new colours and patterns…and it gives you more storage!
